In today’s post, I have decided to share a list of super foods for you to try this year.

Super food #1 – Sumac
Sumac is a spice used in many Mediterranean dishes. It has an extremely high antioxidant level. Get sumac and sprinkle some on your salads. It also is a great substitute for salt.
Super food #2 – Moringa
The Moringa leaves and seeds are full of powerful nutrients. It is a favorite health food in Pakistan, Afghanistan and is loved in the Philippines. Just add to salads or even smoothies.
Super food #3 – Organic Eggs
Eggs are a great source of protein and have very few calories. But make sure the chickens giving the eggs are not fed improper diets. They should be on a fruit and veggie diet with no hormones.
Super food #4 – Raw Cacao
The raw dark chocolate is full of antioxidants and energy providing nutrients. I love blending it with coconut milk.
Super food #5 – Sacha Inchi
They may be called Savi seed when you search for them. These seeds have a nutty taste and are full of Omega 3s, fiber and protein. They also make an oil too.
Super food #6 – Walnuts
Yes, eat more walnuts. They are also full of Omega 3s, especially the brain memory boosting Omega 3. So just keep walnuts for those hunger snacks.
Super food #7 – Turmeric
This super spice is known to help inflammation but more importantly, studies have shown that turmeric may be a weapon against heart disease, cancer, osteoarthritis, infections, and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Multiple Sclerosis.
Super food #8 – Lucuma
This fruit from South America is quite sweet, but has a low glycemic index. It is loaded with nutrients:
- Beta Carotene
- Vitamin B3

Super food #9 – Apples
It is true, an apple a day…
Apples will always be a superfood and I just could not leave them off the list. Just make sure you are buying apples that have been organically raised.
By the way, apples have an antioxidant that may reduce lung cancer risks.
Super food #10 – Lentils
Lentils are an excellent source of plant protein and also give you a huge amount of folate.
Lentils are a great super food you need to try.
Try these wonderful super foods this year… I know they will give you a whole new outlook on your diet.
Just check with your favorite health food store; they should either have them or know where you can attain these great foods.
